The schedule for the first semester of the second exam of national and public universities began on the 25th.

The first semester schedule will be held from the 25th at 171 national and public universities nationwide, and among them, the main gate will open at around 8:00 am, 20 minutes earlier than planned, at the University of Tokyo in Bunkyo Ward, and examinees will go to their respective examination venues. The Japanese language exam began at 9:30 a.m. in the classroom where the test was held, while infection control measures such as spacing the seats of examinees were being taken.

According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, there were 423,180 applicants in the first, middle, and second stages of the examination, the lowest number since 2001 when statistics are available.



The average application rate for national universities was 3.9, down 0.1 points from last year, and 5.6 for public universities, down 0.1 points. Overall, it was 4.3, the lowest for the third consecutive year.



The results of the first semester will be announced from the 1st of next month for public universities and from the 6th of next month for national universities.
