The government has drawn up directives for the committee which next year will develop a new broadcasting license for the public service companies SVT, SR and UR.

During Thursday, the government sent out a request to all the parties, which will now nominate each member to the parliamentary committee that will work with the government's directive.

In about two weeks, it will be clear which party members will be part of the group.

It is already clear that Göran Hägglund is the chairman of the committee.

- He is an experienced leader and negotiator and I can think of few people more suited to the task, says Parisa Liljestrand (M) during a press conference.

Worrying?

Göran Hägglund underlines the importance of a strong public service - not least in times of crisis and war.

When asked which issues the parties could conceivably disagree on, he answers:

- If you talk about areas that can become worrisome, they tend to become more worrisome.

The committee's decision will come in 2025 and the new broadcasting license for public service applies from 2026 – 2033.
