Chen Weijun was born in an ordinary farm family in a village in Fenghua, Ningbo.
When he was in the third grade of elementary school, he was praised by the teacher for his composition "Persuading Dad to Quit Smoking" and posted it in the school window. His father came to the school by chance and was deeply shocked when he saw it. He quit smoking that night, and it has been more than 20 years.

This matter had a great impact on him when he was young at the time. Chen Weijun said: "I saw the power of words from a composition, and I had the belief and passion to embark on the road of writing later."
In the low rural school building, Chen Weijun seriously stated his ideal for the first time: "I want to be a writer."

At the beginning of 2023, Chen Weijun ushered in the publication of his tenth book "Youth Running in the Field".
The book tells the moving story of Chinese teenagers working and growing up in the countryside in the new era.
"Depict the fruitful results of the cause of 'rural revitalization' and 'common prosperity' in the new era from the perspective of children." Chen Weijun explained that "Youth Running in the Field" is his first creative practice in the field of children's literature, hoping to pay tribute to childhood with words , use words to warm all the children.
Picking up cow dung, cutting pigweed, sowing and transplanting rice seedlings, cutting rice and drying grain... In Chen Weijun's memory, his childhood rural life experience is the source of his creation.

"At the moment when I decided to write this novel, my mind was full of the style and appearance of my hometown village. Those warm and interesting pictures all rushed out and reappeared between the lines of my words." Chen Weijun said.
It is reported that "Youth Running in the Field" mainly tells about Gu Xiaosen, an urban teenager who has excellent grades in exams, but lacks knowledge beyond textbooks, and even thinks that "peanuts are hanging on tall trees".
In order to persuade his sister who is determined to devote himself to rural construction to return to the city, Gu Xiaosen came to the countryside alone during the summer vacation. During the labor process, he met many interesting people and things, and felt the great changes in the countryside and the positive spirit of the villagers.
In the vast and fertile countryside, Gu Xiaosen not only learned knowledge outside of textbooks, gained precious friendships, but also realized the importance of "labor" in shaping personality.
