The tragedy of the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria, which left tens of thousands dead and injured, has not ended. The crush syndrome appears in the survivors, whose lower and upper extremities were pressed by rubble.

Among those survivors from under the rubble was the child Sham, who was removed by the Syrian Civil Defense after 40 hours from among the rubble in rural Idlib. The eight-year-old girl had spent all these hours under the rubble with the wall pressing on her lower limbs.

Sham is currently receiving treatment in a hospital in rural Idlib, but she faces a serious condition that may lead to the amputation of her legs, which is called crush syndrome, as the rubble causes pressure on the upper and lower extremities of the human body.

The disease also mashes muscles, tissues, and bones, and blood flow to these extremities stops. The symptoms of mashing syndrome are severe swelling of the extremities, changing their color, loss of sensation, and diuresis.

And the “Shabakat” program (22/2/2023) followed the comments of the pioneers of communication platforms on the crushing or crushing syndrome, where the activist Muntaha pointed out the need to receive external aid to confront this disease and wrote, “Surely, the Syrian medical capabilities are not appreciated, and foreign countries must help in a rescue campaign.” The patients".

Tweeter Fatima expressed her grief over what the survivors might suffer from diseases, and she said, "I mean, even those who entered a new life and got out from under the rubble did not rejoice and rejoice because they were in danger. God suffices me, and He is the best disposer of affairs. God heals everyone and does not harm anyone."

In turn, activist Hussein Al-Hamel warned of the seriousness of this disease and commented, "This syndrome is very dangerous, and it may lead to death if it is not treated properly. Most deaths occur in hospitals. After the patient improves after being rescued, he suddenly dies in the hospital."

Activist Zakia confirmed that she had seen some cases suffering from this syndrome and said, "Indeed, this is what happened to some cases that emerged after long hours from under the rubble, and I saw this on two girls."
