  It is understood that the "Liaozhuang Flower Drum" originated in the Song Dynasty and prevailed in the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. It has a history of hundreds of years and is an important program in temple fairs, festival celebrations, weddings and funerals and other occasions.

The performance evolved from the story of a Liangshan hero who disguised himself and sneaked into the Daming Mansion to rescue the jade unicorn Lu Junyi. Up to now, the costumes, props, and facial expressions have always maintained the costumes of one hundred and eight generals in Liangshan.
