Rakugo performer Shohei Shofukutei, who was active in TV variety shows, passed away on the morning of the 22nd due to acute aortic dissection.

Born in Osaka, Shohei Shofukutei graduated from Osaka University of Arts in 1980, and began training under Tsurube Shofukutei, a rakugo performer.



After appearing on TV and radio mainly in the Kansai region, his cheerful personality became popular in the living room, and in 1987 he moved to Tokyo and was active in TV variety shows, wearing his trademark yellow glasses and mimicry. He gained popularity for his art.



He was also active in a wide range of fields, such as appearing in NHK's continuous TV novel "Come Come Everybody".



According to his agency, Shohei Shofukutei collapsed at his home in Tokyo and died of acute aortic dissection on the morning of the 22nd.
