In memory of manga artist Leiji Matsumoto, who passed away this month, an exhibition introducing Nishijin textile hanging scrolls with motifs such as "Galaxy Express 999" began on the 22nd in Kyoto.

Five years ago, the Nishijin Textile Museum in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto, tried to express the world that Leiji Matsumoto created with Nishijin textiles. , We are exhibiting a total of 10 points from the 22nd.



Among them, the hanging scroll depicting Maetel, the heroine of "Galaxy Express 999", strolling around Kiyomizu Temple and Kinkakuji Temple is a large work of 3.50 meters in height and 1.40 meters in width. Thousands of threads are woven into it to create a delicate and luxurious finish.

In addition, the Nishijin textile, which reproduces the original animation, uses thin threads to add shades to express the blue of the universe and the luster of Maetel's golden hair.
