A former director of an energy-related company in Tokyo was arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department for defrauding a company in Utsunomiya City of 3 million yen under the pretext of starting a solar power generation project.

Arrested was Akira Suzuki (52), a former director of an energy-related company in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, three years ago in February, the former director approached a company in Utsunomiya City to purchase a forest in Ibaraki Prefecture and install solar power generation equipment, and paid 3 million yen for the start of construction. It is suspected of fraud as defrauded.

He said, "If you sell the electricity generated by solar power, you can make money."

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating that the former director used the same trick to propose false businesses to about 30 companies, mainly in the Kanto region, and defrauded about 500 million yen.

The Metropolitan Police Department has not disclosed the approval or disapproval of the former director.
