In response to the death of cartoonist Leiji Matsumoto, a flower stand was set up in his hometown of Nerima Ward, Tokyo, and fans were sorry to say goodbye with flowers.

Mr. Matsumoto, who passed away on the 13th of this month, has been active in Nerima Ward, Tokyo for a long time after moving to Tokyo from Fukuoka.

Many fans visited from the morning of the 21st, handed out flowers and put their hands together, remembering Mr. Matsumoto's achievements and contributing to the revitalization of the local community.

On the deck, bronze statues of Maetel and Tetsuro, who appear in "Galaxy Express 999", are installed, and many people were seen taking pictures on the 21st.

A local woman who visited with her 3-year-old son said, "I've been a fan of 'Galaxy Express 999' since the first grade of elementary school, and I learned that there are various worlds during the adventure. I'm lonely because I'm my favorite manga artist. Yesterday, when I showed my son, who likes trains and space, a video of '999', he was fascinated by it, and I felt that the charm never faded."

Also, a woman in her 50s said, "Thank you for delivering a work full of dreams and romance, and I told you to travel slowly in the wide universe."

The flower stand will be installed until the 26th of this month.
