According to the seventh national census data, the permanent population of Henan Province is 99.366 million, accounting for 7.04% of the national population.

According to the data released by the Henan Provincial Bureau of Statistics this time, by the end of 2022, the permanent resident population of the province will be 98.72 million, a decrease of 110,000 from the end of 2021.

This is a smaller decline than the 580,000 reduction in 2021.

  The Henan Provincial Bureau of Statistics stated that the negative growth of the natural population growth rate is mainly due to various factors such as the continuous decrease of women of childbearing age, changes in concept of childbearing, delayed marriage and childbirth, population outflow and population aging.

In 2022, Henan Province will have a birth population of 733,000, with a birth rate of 7.42‰; the natural increase population will be -0.8 million, and the natural growth rate will be -0.08‰.

Compared with 2021, the province's birth population will decrease by 60,000, and the birth rate will drop by 0.58 per thousand.

  However, affected by factors such as the expansion of urban areas, the natural growth of the urban population, and the flow of rural population into cities and other factors, the urban population of Henan continued to increase, and the quality of new urbanization steadily improved. The urbanization rate was 57.07%, an increase of 0.62 percentage points from the end of 2021.
