The panda "Shan Shan" at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo's Taito Ward will be returned to China on the 21st.

Ueno Zoo's female giant panda "Xianxiang" will be returned to China on the 21st.

Six years ago, in June 2017, Xiangshan was born and raised through natural mating for the first time at Ueno Zoo.

Xiang Xiang's parents are borrowed from China by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for the purpose of "academic research on breeding", and based on the agreement, the ownership of Xiang Xiang, who was born during that time, is also on the Chinese side.

According to the agreement, it was said to be "returned to China in 24 months", but due to the influence of the new corona, the return date was extended five times, and the return date was officially decided in December last year.

A total of more than 60,000 people applied for the final viewing date on the 19th, and about 2,600 fans who were selected by a lottery with a magnification of about 24 times said goodbye.

According to Ueno Zoo, Shanshan will leave the zoo by truck by around 7 am on the 21st, transfer to her own plane at Narita Airport, and depart for Chengdu, China around noon.
