The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced during the inauguration of the International Renewable Energy Conference (IREC)

the creation of 20,000 professional training places linked to this sector

.

In addition, the first 4,000 will be available this year.

The Executive expects that 'green' energies will generate half a million jobs -direct and indirect- in the next decade, which would practically mean multiplying by five the current figure, which is around 110,000 jobs.

Sánchez recalled that the Council of Ministers will approve next Tuesday the distribution of 2,500 million euros in scholarships with which they intend, among other things, to promote training in renewable energies.

From the sector they have had an impact for a long time that it is one of the challenges for the ecological transition and, above all, to position Spain as a 'green' world benchmark: there is a lack of professionals.

In the case of photovoltaics, for example, practically

65% of the value chain is already manufactured in Spain

-the panel itself is missing, of course, which represents 35%-, but there is concern that the lack of labor slow down development or cause China to eventually assert itself as a large solar market.

Something similar happens with wind power, especially in the marina.

Spain cannot resort to the most widespread technology -

bottom fix

, with wind turbines practically identical to those on land, but on the sea floor - because its continental platform is very small and there are great depths a short distance away.

Thus, the solution is floating wind power, which, although it already exists, is further from being developed on a large scale: Spain's goal is to

have between 1 GW and 3GW installed by 2030

, while Germany, for example, contemplates 30 GW .

All in all, according to calculations by the Wind Energy Association, the direct and indirect contribution of the phases of investment, operation and construction of ships and export of structures would be 9,581 million euros

for the period 2025-2030

in a scenario in which the 75% of the activities take place in Spain.

This would mean the creation of 7,523 jobs in this same scenario in which training, again, would be key.

It would also mean an opportunity to 'recycle' the shipyards and there is an even greater percentage of capacity to contribute to the value chain, since close to 90% of a wind turbine is already produced in Spain.

Priority

In this sense, Sánchez took advantage of his speech to puff up the various measures taken during the energy crisis and to recall the role of Spain - a "lighthouse" - in this period.

"All the responses are aligned with the climate emergency, with advancing in the green transition," he assured.

The Government's idea is that this role should also be one of its lines during the Spanish presidency of the European Council, which will take place in the second half of the year.

According to Sánchez, the energy transition will be a "real priority"

According to the criteria of The Trust Project
