According to statistics, there are more than 1,000 Karez wells in Turpan, with a total length of more than 5,000 kilometers. It is known as one of the three major engineering projects in ancient China, and it is as famous as the Great Wall and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
The reporter saw in the program that President Shan Jixiang, members of the "Wanli Youth League" and guests went down to experience in person, came to the 17-meter-deep underground culvert, and explored the source of life in Turpan.
According to Shan Jixiang's introduction in the program, when he inspected a group of Karez Wells in Gandian Village, Aidinghu Township, Turpan City in 2010, he personally went down to a depth of nearly 20 meters to conduct on-the-spot inspections on the reinforcement of the culvert.
