The Metropolitan Police Department held an event for junior high school students, saying that there are a number of cases where junior high and high school students are involved in crimes through SNS.

About 400 first- and second-year students from four junior high schools in Tokyo participated in the event held by the Metropolitan Police Department in Mitaka City.

Two members of the comedy duo Timondi were also invited to the venue, and the risks of using SNS were introduced in a quiz format based on actual cases.

The participants were told that they were threatened by someone they met on SNS to send them pictures in their underwear, and that the school could be identified from the content of the post, which could lead to harassment.

In Tokyo, there have been 29 confirmed cases of "self-portraits," in which people under the age of 18 were forced to send naked pictures from people they met on SNS over the past year, just in cases filed by the Metropolitan Police Department. Among them were elementary and junior high school students.

In addition, at the event on the 15th, the risk of becoming a perpetrator on SNS was also introduced, and postings made with the intention of joking could lead to arrest or demand a large amount of compensation. A police officer was urging caution.

One student who participated said, "I thought I knew about the dangers of SNS, but I thought I should be more careful."

The event on the 15th will be delivered online to junior high schools in Tokyo and will be used as teaching materials.
