Chiba Prefecture is the only prefecture out of Japan's 47 prefectures that does not have an ordinance on gender equality.

Governor Kumagai of Chiba Prefecture was asked about the significance of respecting diversity in a representative question at the prefectural assembly. When people understand and recognize each other, and collaborate and cooperate, interaction and synergistic effects will be generated, and the vitality and creativity of society and the economy will be enhanced."



After that, he said, "In order to realize a society where diversity is respected and everyone can play an active role, I would like to consider enacting a new ordinance unique to Chiba Prefecture that allows all citizens to share the same philosophy."



According to Chiba Prefecture, out of 47 prefectures and 20 ordinance-designated cities nationwide, Chiba is the only prefecture that does not have an ordinance on gender equality. That's it.
