Last month, a commissioned police dog was awarded meat as a reward for helping to find a missing elementary school boy in Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture.

Abel, an 11-year-old Shepherd who is a temporary police dog of the Ibaraki Prefectural Police Headquarters, was instrumental in finding the boy.

On the 9th, Kozue Mikami, who teaches Abel at the Kamisu Police Station, and Tsunemi Sato, the owner, received a letter of appreciation, and Abel received meat.



On the 20th of last month, Abel cooperated in the search for an elementary school boy who had requested a search without returning home, narrowed down the area where the boy was, and the police found the boy safely in a parking lot near his home.



After the presentation ceremony, Abel quickly ate the meat with great relish.



Mr. Mikami, who is the instructor, said, "I'm glad that the result of training while communicating with the dog every day so that I can contribute to society."



Kazuwa Sugita, Chief of Kamisu Police Station, said, "I felt the power of police dogs again. I think people's trust in police dogs has increased."
