Meiji University announced on the 9th that there was a possibility that computers on campus were accessed illegally and that more than 36,000 e-mail addresses of students may have been leaked.

So far, there have been no reports of email addresses being misused.

According to Meiji University, a server located on the campus of Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture was hacked multiple times since late July last year.



As a result, 36,692 e-mail addresses of students and staff may have been leaked to the outside.



Information such as addresses and phone numbers have not been leaked, and so far there have been no reports of misuse of email addresses.



A spokesperson for Meiji University's Public Relations Division said, "We sincerely apologize for causing a great deal of trouble to the students. Currently, we are conducting an investigation with the cooperation of a specialist company, and as soon as the detailed cause is determined, measures such as recurrence prevention will be taken. I will continue to teach."
