Turkey is still counting losses.

To date, the death toll is already more than 8 thousand, wounded - more than 40 thousand.

Terrible numbers and a great tragedy - a week of mourning has been declared in the country.

Headlines of Turkish newspapers vying with each other compare the last days in Turkey with the "end of the world" and ask to save the country.

The whole world is extending a helping hand to the Republic of Turkey today: according to Turkish Foreign Minister M. Cavusoglu, offers of assistance have been received from 76 countries and 14 international organizations, search and rescue teams from 36 states are already working at the scene.

However, there were also those who decided to play on someone else's grief.

So, in the provinces affected by the earthquake and subsequently faced with a lack of food, marauders are rampant.

Moreover, Turkish media published videos of armed crowds of Syrian migrants taking supplies and food delivered to the victims in Hatay.

The social situation inside Turkey in the near future leaves much to be desired.

The Turkish government will be under pressure not only from within (criticism from the opposition and the population, the restoration of destroyed buildings and infrastructure, looting and robbery) - Turkey's national security may also be in jeopardy.

Such catastrophes are an excellent occasion for humanitarian intervention.

No one has canceled the pressure in the information space either.

Yesterday, the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo published on Twitter a caricature of the tragic events in a number of Turkish provinces.

Under the image of destroyed houses and overturned cars was the caption: “Earthquake in Turkey.

No more need to send tanks."

The President's press secretary, I. Kalyn, has already wished the authors to "choke on their anger."

Surprisingly, the Greek newspaper Kathimerini intervened, writing: "We are all Turks."

And again, the same question: how far can freedom of speech go and why can it justify any inhumanity and intolerance?

In connection with the large-scale national tragedy, it is not entirely clear how Ankara will behave in the political arena, whether Erdogan will continue to weave a ball of Turkish “hub” threads.

According to RIA Novosti, the international meeting in Istanbul on the gas hub, scheduled for February 14-15, has not yet been postponed.

However, there is a possibility that Ankara will withdraw from the negotiation process between Russia, Ukraine and the West for a while.

Projects of "soft power" to promote Turkish logics in neighboring regions are also questionable, since the most important thing for Ankara now is to focus on the domestic agenda.

By the way, the Turkish leader did not leave a trump card in the hands of the opposition, saying that the elections, which are a little more than three months away, will be held on time - without postponements.

Probably, but not a fact.
