In response to the issue of assault by multiple prison guards at Nagoya Prison, the Ministry of Justice investigated about 250 facilities such as prisons and juvenile training schools nationwide, and as a result, there were more than 120 cases of inappropriate behavior, such as kicking the door of an inmate's room. Confirmed.

At Nagoya Prison, it was revealed that 22 prison officers had repeatedly assaulted three inmates from last year to last year, and Minister of Justice Saito instructed prisons nationwide to investigate.

On the 8th, a third-party panel of experts was held to investigate the cause of this problem, and the Ministry of Justice monitored surveillance camera images of 257 facilities such as prisons and juvenile training schools nationwide for a week from December 5th to 12th last year. As a result of the investigation, it was reported that 122 inappropriate behaviors by 46 employees were confirmed.



Specifically, inappropriate behavior such as entering an inmate's room with shoes on or kicking the door of an inmate's room was confirmed at 14 facilities, including Okayama Prison and Kitakyushu Medical Prison.



However, no violence was confirmed.



The Ministry of Justice said, "It is very regrettable, and we would like to consider measures to prevent recurrence as soon as possible."
