- It is difficult to reach out in such a huge noise as it is in the USA, says producer Christer Björkman to Aftonbladet.

Instead, he hopes that the competition will be able to make a comeback on American television next year.

- It is possible that it will be pushed to 2024, says Björkman to Aftonbladet.

Christer Björkman is one of the architects behind the success of Melodifestivalen and the Eurovision Song Contest in the last 20 years.

Together with Peter Settman, among others, he launched an American version last year where artists from the various states competed against each other.

Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson were hosts.

But "American Song Contest" was a viewer flop, partly because it was broadcast at the same time as "Idol" on a competing channel and Björkman has been openly critical of the television company NBC for how the program was marketed.

- Being matched against "American idol" is roughly like being matched against Mello in Sweden, so it's difficult, said Björkman to TT in May last year.
