"World Orchid Exhibition" begins in Tokyo More than 500 orchids will be displayed in one place until the 14th

The "World Orchid Exhibition", which gathers various kinds of orchids in one place, started on the 8th in Tokyo.

This exhibition is held annually by NHK and other organizations, and Princess Hisako, Princess Takamado, attended the opening ceremony.

This year, more than 500 orchids were exhibited, and a kind of orchid called "Paphiopedilum" raised by Masami Takahashi of Tokyo was selected as the "Japan Grand Prize" for the best work.

One of the characteristics of this flower is that part of the petals are swollen like a bag.

The "World Orchid Exhibition" will be held at Tokyo Dome City in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo until the 14th of this month.
