The decisions and actions taken by the Israeli government in the aftermath of the recent wave of resistance operations in Jerusalem and the West Bank carry a potential energy that allows for the explosion of a comprehensive confrontation in all arenas of Palestinian existence within historic Palestine.

The Israeli cabinet for security affairs decided to close and destroy the homes of the perpetrators of the attacks, arrest their families, increase the pace of construction in Jewish settlements in Jerusalem and the West Bank, legalize the outposts that were inaugurated by settlers without the permission of the occupation government and its army, and enable more settlers to bear arms.

Palestinian female prisoners were subjected to brutal repression that led them to set fire to their cells.

In addition to the decision to stop providing prisoners in two large prisons with bread, on the pretext that obtaining bread is a “luxury” that these prisoners do not deserve.

However, there is no doubt that the most dangerous decisions are those taken by the ministers belonging to the forces of the religious extreme right, as these ministers saw that these operations allow justifying taking steps aimed at achieving their main goal of resolving the conflict with the Palestinian people.

Based on the instructions of the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, the occupation police began destroying Palestinian homes in occupied Jerusalem, under the pretext that they were built without a permit.

Ben Gvir took another step with high explosive energy, which was to take decisions aimed at harassing Palestinian prisoners in the occupation prisons.

Where the Palestinian female prisoners were subjected to brutal repression that led them to set fire to the cells;

In addition to his decision to stop providing prisoners in two large prisons with bread, on the pretext that obtaining bread is a "luxury" that these prisoners do not deserve.

Representatives of the religious right were not satisfied with that, but rather rushed to enact a law that allows for the confiscation of citizenship and residency rights from every Palestinian resident of Jerusalem and the Palestinian interior, if he participates in a resistance operation.

In addition, the Israeli government is currently looking for legal exits that allow the families of the perpetrators of the attacks to be expelled from the West Bank to the Gaza Strip.

All indications indicate that the iron fist policy adopted by the Israeli government will not succeed in containing the state of resistance in the occupied territories, in addition to the fact that the adoption of this policy could have a negative impact on the economic and social reality in Israel itself.

The wave of resistance operations came precisely after the Israeli repression reached unprecedented levels, as reflected in the Jenin camp massacre.

This means that there is a direct relationship between the increase in the levels of repression and the crimes committed by the occupation, and the increasing motivation of Palestinian youth to join the circle of resistance action.

In addition, all the security decisions and measures taken by the Israeli government will not, in practice, affect the success of the resistance operations in the future.

All the operations that have been carried out recently are individual, and it is very difficult for the occupation intelligence to obtain prior information that could help thwart them before they are carried out, unlike the operations that are carried out by cells belonging to organizations.

At the same time, the most powerful operations were carried out recently in the Jerusalem area, which is under direct Israeli control, and under a state of great security alert.

This means that the implementation of more resistance operations is related to the motivation level of Palestinian youth more than it is related to Israel's security measures.

The increase in the levels of oppression of the occupation can push the Palestinian youth in areas with a sensitive geographical location and a large demographic weight to carry out operations in a way that changes the reality of the confrontation.

The Israeli security forces express their fear that the city of Hebron in particular - under the influence of the widespread house destruction operations that Israel is working on in the "Masafer Yatta" area, south of the city - will join the circle of individual operations on a large scale.

Hebron - which is the largest city in the West Bank in terms of population, like Jenin - is distinguished by its proximity to the Green Line, and the ease of transportation from it to Israeli cities, especially the city of "Beersheba", in addition to being surrounded by a large number of settlements.

At the same time, the decisions of the Israeli government could lead to the collapse of the Palestinian Authority, as the pace of resistance operations and Tel Aviv's disproportionate reactions increase;

Many areas of the West Bank could be removed from the control of this authority.

If this scenario materializes, Israel will bear the responsibility for managing and financing the service sectors in the West Bank, with all the economic consequences and security risks involved.

The escalation in the West Bank and the targeting of prisoners increases the chances of a confrontation with the Palestinian resistance movements in the Gaza Strip, which consider harming prisoners - particularly female prisoners - a red line that they cannot accept crossing.

It expressed this by firing rocket-propelled grenades in order to warn against the consequences of continuing this approach.

It is clear that the recent decisions taken by the Israeli government against the Palestinians inside Israel could accelerate the outbreak of confrontation with this important sector of the Palestinian people, especially the decision to carve out large areas of the Negev lands through afforestation, as well as the introduction of a draft law that abolishes the recognition of university degrees issued by Palestinian universities. In the West Bank, where thousands of internal Palestinians graduated, which means closing the curtain in front of them in order to find job opportunities within Israeli institutions.

With these decisions, the Israeli government is pushing towards detonating and unifying confrontation arenas in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and the areas where Palestinians live inside.

Complicating matters is the fact that Israel is facing a wave of resistance operations in light of an unprecedented internal division and societal rift in the wake of the policies adopted by the Netanyahu government, specifically in terms of judicial reforms.

This reduces the level of internal legitimacy enjoyed by its measures to confront the resistance.

Some Israeli elites have accused Benjamin Netanyahu of pushing for the Jenin massacre in order to influence the trends of the internal debate and impose a security agenda that curtails the ability of the opposition to continue organizing protest demonstrations against his policies.

At the same time, given that all the ministers representing the forces of the extreme religious right either did not perform military service or served a short period of time, and because the overwhelming majority of supporters of these forces are exempt from military service, large segments of the Israeli public believe that these forces have no right That the government pushes towards carrying out military operations that could result in the killing and wounding of soldiers at a time when its representatives and public do not bear the burden of military service.

Not only that, but the explosive security situation will exacerbate the economic situation due to the increase in security expenditures, in light of indications that Israel will pay a heavy price as a result of Netanyahu's policies at the domestic level, which will reduce the level of legitimacy enjoyed by the government's policies towards the Palestinian issue.

The government's decisions regarding the response to the resistance operations coincided with a number of leading companies announcing their withdrawal from the Israeli market in protest against the government's internal policies, such as "Pia Global", the largest technology company, and "Verbet", the second largest insurance company.

The foregoing does not mean that the Netanyahu government will reassess its steps and change its strategy based on escalation.

The forces of the extreme religious right are pushing this government towards large and disproportionate responses to the resistance operations, not only because of its ideological orientations;

but also under the weight of its political considerations;

As its electoral rules demand that it implement what it pledged during its electoral campaigns, especially in terms of confronting resistance operations.

The American position plays an important role in strengthening Israel's motivation to continue the escalation.

According to what was revealed by the “Walla” website, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called on Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, during their meeting in Ramallah, to implement a security plan prepared by US General Mike Wenzel aimed at drying up the resistance environment in Jenin and Nablus using force.

It is noteworthy that Blinken pressured Abbas to implement this plan without pledging to oblige Israel - at least - to reduce its military activities in these two cities.

The foregoing indicates that although Israel's policies to confront individual operations will lead to counterproductive results and will not succeed in quelling them, and despite the contribution of these operations to preserving the spirit of resistance;

At the same time, it is used by the Israeli government to take decisions aimed at establishing facts on the ground, especially in terms of settlement, Judaization, and fighting the Palestinian presence.

From here, individual operations cannot be a substitute for the Palestinians' agreement on a comprehensive national program to confront the occupation that ensures their transition from the stage of steadfastness to achieving practical successes in terms of thwarting the occupation's plans aimed at resolving the conflict.
