In preparation for the G7 Hiroshima Summit in May this year, high school students in the prefecture started operating a wrapping streetcar with designs depicting famous places and specialties of Hiroshima from the 3rd in Hiroshima City and other places.

This wrapping streetcar has 6 designs drawn by students of 6 high schools in the prefecture on the outside of the 5-car train.



About 40 people gathered at the departure ceremony held at Hiroden Nishi-Hiroshima Station in Nishi Ward, Hiroshima City, including members of the Summit Prefectural Conference organized by the prefecture and Hiroshima City, and students who drew designs.



Hiroshima Electric Railway's managing director, Yasuhiro Karii, began by saying, "This is your chance to spread peace and the good things about Hiroshima to the world. If you see a train, please wave your hand."



After that, six high school students took the design drawings in their hands and introduced the thoughts they put into their creations.

Among them, Kannabe High School's work depicts the Atomic Bomb Dome and Hiroshima Castle against the light blue background of the Seto Inland Sea, as well as Hiroshima's specialties such as oysters, lemons, and rice scoops.



Natsuki Kamiya, a third-year student, said, "I didn't know much about the summit, but through this project, I was able to find out what countries are coming. I'm really looking forward to seeing the trains run through the city." I was.



In addition, Hiroshima Mirai Sousei High School's work uses colored pencils to depict three professional sports teams that have local teams: baseball, soccer, and basketball.



Kamui Amano, a third-year student, and Junna Miyakoshi, a second-year student, said, "I am very happy to see our paintings running on the train. It is an honor."
