Regarding the medical care provision system after the position of the new corona in the Infectious Diseases Law has been shifted to "Type 5", a group formed by the directors of university hospitals nationwide will visit the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to provide appropriate medical care to patients. We have submitted a request for the continuation of the current financial support, such as additional medical fees.

Regarding the medical care provision system after the position of the novel coronavirus under the Infectious Diseases Law was shifted to "Category 5" on May 8, the government plans to gradually shift to a system that allows hospitalization and examination even at general medical institutions. Measures such as financial support are also being reviewed.

Regarding this, a group made up of directors of university hospitals visited the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare on the 3rd and submitted a request.

Among them, the medical treatment of the new corona requires more manpower, time, and supplies than usual, and hospitals that accept patients with a high risk of severe illness, such as the elderly, will continue to need infection control measures in the hospital.

On top of that, in order to provide appropriate medical care, we are requesting continued financial support, such as additional medical fees for inpatients, outpatients, and an increase in the number of nurses, as well as the cost of securing hospital beds.

At a press conference, Kotaro Yokote, chairman of the National Conference of Medical Deans and Hospital Directors, said, ``The financial support so far has greatly contributed not only to corona treatment but also to regular treatment. I want it," he said.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare plans to present a specific policy on the medical care provision system after the transition to "Type 5" by the beginning of next month.
