The shocking sound of drums and the bold and rough dance poses have become a unique scenery during the Spring Festival in this remote mountain village.
[Explanation] The original hand-waving dance originated in Shemihu Village, Baifusi Town, Laifeng County, Hubei Province, and is the most distinctive national symbol of the Tujia nationality.
In the course of more than 2,000 years of history, the hand-waving dance has demonstrated the unique culture of the Tujia people.
Recently, the reporter came to Shemihu Village, Baifusi Town, to visit the "living inheritance" of the national intangible cultural heritage Tujia waving dance.
[Explanation] Shemi Lake means a sunny hillside in Tujia language. The stone roads, green tile houses, and stilted buildings in the village are located among the green mountains and green waters, with a beautiful environment.
The village is a traditional Chinese village, and more than 600 people in 170 households are Tujia.
Whenever there are festivals and various celebrations, the villagers will dance the hand-waving dance in the hand-waving hall.
[Explanation] Peng Dabing is nearly 74 years old this year and has been dancing hand-waving dance for more than 60 years. He is currently the executive vice president of Laifeng County Waving Dance Association.
He introduced that the hand-waving dance of the Tujia nationality originated from farming, animal husbandry and fishing activities, and the movements followed the rhythm of the drums. Spread your wings in nine movements.

[Explanation] Peng Chengjin, the 27th-generation successor of the original ecological hand-waving dance in Shemihu Village, learned to dance at the age of 3, learned to play drums at the age of 7, and performed on stage at the age of 12. He has appeared on the stage hundreds of times.
Known as the "King of Tujia Drums", he beats drums and gongs with a distinctive rhythm and shocking rhythm, which can inspire dancers to dance together to the greatest extent.
At present, he is the national representative inheritor of Tujia hand-waving dance.

In the hand-waving dance, drumming is the general conductor. There are nine sets of movements in the hand-waving dance, and the drum beats of each set are different, that is, there are three or four styles of play.

In 2008, Tujia hand-waving dance was included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage protection list.
In order to protect and inherit the hand-waving dance, Peng Dabing and other villagers have always "never give up". They not only insist on dancing themselves, but also teach their family members to dance.

At the same time, a group of inheritors of waving dance, such as Peng Dabing and Peng Chengjin, were promoted to bring waving dance into government agencies, schools, enterprises, scenic spots, communities, and rural areas, so as to realize the "living inheritance" of Tujia waving dance.
