February 4th is Rubella Day.

About half of the men in their 20s had insufficient antibodies against rubella, a research group at Chiba University and others compiled the results of a survey. I am calling for you.

The research is being conducted jointly by the Medical Mycological Research Center of Chiba University and Chiba City.

Rubella is an infectious disease that can cause damage to the eyes, ears, and heart of a baby born to a pregnant woman.

The research group analyzed the data of approximately 2,700 citizens in their 20s who underwent antibody tests for rubella in the three years from 2018, and found that 8% of men and 6% of women had no immunity to rubella. was.

It was also found that 47% of men and 44% of women have insufficient antibodies and are at risk of contracting rubella.

Many of this generation had the opportunity to be vaccinated twice as children, but either missed it or only received it once. It means that there are cases where there are.

The government is currently issuing coupons for free vaccinations for males born between April 2, 1962 and April 1, 1979, who were not eligible for routine childhood vaccinations. Dr. Kenichi Takeshita, who conducted the analysis, said, ``We found that young people who have many opportunities to come into contact with pregnant women need to be careful about infection. I would like people to check the Maternal and Child Health Handbook and take antibody tests to ensure prevention."
