“Hip-hip, hooray!

We won !

The Nantes Administrative Court of Appeal dismissed Akuo/Phares.

The wind turbine is refused for the third time by the State”.

On its Facebook page, the Vent de Bout' Ouessant collective let its joy burst on Tuesday after the court's decision to oppose the construction of a 67-meter-high wind turbine on Ouessant.

Located off Finistère, the island is now 100% dependent on an oil-fired power plant, whose fuel must be imported from the mainland.

On Tuesday, the Nantes Administrative Court of Appeal examined the appeal of the companies Akuo Energy and the manufacturer of tidal turbines Sabella which are carrying out an energy project called Phares.

“The wind turbine has a height corresponding approximately to double that of the nearby coastal cliffs, which would be likely to substantially modify the views of this classified picturesque landscape”, estimated the magistrates, as reported by Press Pepper.

The project involves the construction of two tidal turbines, a photovoltaic power station and a wind turbine.

Supported by the municipality, the Brittany region and Ademe, the project leaders, on the other hand, received an unfavorable opinion from the Architect of the buildings of France, as recalled by the Press Pepper agency.

Each year, the energy consumption of the large thousand inhabitants represents the equivalent of 1,600 tonnes of fuel oil.
