An electrical transformer located in the city center of Avignon (Vaucluse) will be the subject of a maintenance intervention on Tuesday.

The latter will lead to a cut in the electricity supply to dozens of homes between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., reports France Bleu Vaucluse.

About 200 customers living near rue de la République, where the equipment is located, will be affected.

Emilie Blondel, deputy director of Enedis in the Vaucluse department, said that the interruption of the electricity supply could not be avoided given the scale of the work.

These have been considered since May 2022, when the individual and professional customers concerned began to be consulted.

The intervention of the Enedis technicians will consist of adding a device making it possible to control the box remotely.

This system can avoid the mobilization of a team on site in the event of a malfunction.

A medium voltage panel contributing to the operation of the equipment will also be replaced by a more recent model.

The objective is to "guarantee a better supply of electricity", assured Emilie Blondel.
