The Dutch Crown Princess Amalia got to know the island of Bonaire during her first official visit to the Caribbean part of the kingdom.
Residents and tourists enthusiastically welcomed the 19-year-old princess and her parents, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, to the island on Saturday.
Among other things, they visited the historic slave huts, as reported by the ANP news agency.
The visit of the heir to the throne to the six Caribbean islands that make up the kingdom is a tradition.
It is Amalia's first official work visit.
An important theme of this approximately two-week royal trip is the history of slavery.
Slavery did not end in the Dutch colonies until 1873.
On the first day of the trip, the family also visited the mangrove forests and spoke to local residents about the threat posed to the island by climate change.
Later, Amalia became acquainted with cultural traditions.
The Oranjes also danced with the local population, as reported by Dutch television.
