The sightseeing train "Ryuhyo Monogatari", which allows you to enjoy the scenery of the Sea of Okhotsk in winter from a slow-moving train, began operation on the 28th.

The "Ryuhyo Monogatari" runs between Abashiri Station and Shiretoko-Shari Station on the JR Senmo Line, taking about an hour.

On the 28th, the first day of operation, after the departure ceremony was held at Abashiri Station, about 50 people, including tourists from Hokkaido and Taiwan, departed.

This year's vehicle is a two-car train with a yellow body designed to look like drift ice and a green body that expresses the blessings of the forest. It is listed.

Tourists enjoyed watching the whitecaps of the Sea of Okhotsk and the snowscape from the train window, and taking pictures at the stations along the way.

A man from Kitami City who visited with his family said, "I came here looking forward to seeing the drift ice from the train, but I haven't been able to see the drift ice yet. It's a shame, but I'm looking forward to seeing it in the future."

Naoki Ikura, director of the Abashiri City Tourism, Commerce and Industry Department, said, "You can enjoy drift ice sightseeing on a sightseeing train or icebreaker, so we look forward to seeing many of you."

"Ryuhyo Monogatari" will run twice daily until the 26th of next month.
