Five people were killed in a hospital fire in eastern India

At least five people were killed in a fire that broke out inside a private hospital in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand on Saturday

The fire broke out on the second floor of Hazrat Hospital in Bank Moore district in Dhanbad district in the early hours of the day.

The police said that among the dead were the owner of the private hospital, the doctor, his wife, a maid and two of his relatives, noting that most of the deaths resulted from suffocation.


She pointed out that the fire broke out in the hospital at about two o'clock after midnight today, Saturday, and spread at a rapid pace.

About nine people were rescued and admitted to a nearby hospital. Five of them are in serious condition.
