The eel is hot right now.

Last week it was discovered that Ulf Kristerssson's state secretary PM Nilsson poached eels, and this has provoked strong reactions.

So much so that PM Nilsson announced his resignation on Thursday evening.

Now, the recent focus on the poaching of eels has increased interest in the author Patrik Svensson's book "Ålevangeliet", which depicts the mysterious life of the fish.

Climbing the leaderboard

The book was released in 2019, and subsequently won the August prize.

Interest in the book on the audiobook platform "Nextory" has now increased by 20 percent, which means that the book has climbed several places on the platform's top list of the most popular books, reports the Altinget.

- The book has climbed several places in the last week.

A rocket on the top list, you could say, says Magnus Nytell, content manager at Nextory, to the Altinget.

At the same time, the book is temporarily out of stock at Adlibris and sold out in hardcover at akademibokhandeln.se.

PM Nilsson resigns

It was on Thursday evening that PM Nilsson announced on Facebook that he was leaving his post.

"I understand the inappropriateness of the Secretary of State role being involved in these types of stories," he writes.

Patrik Svensson has not commented on the new interest in "Ålevangeliet".

However, he commented on PM Nilsson's poaching to Kulturnyheterna last week:

- It is so incredibly stupid.

I can't see it as anything other than selfish indiscretion.
