A crane game with large strawberries as prizes has appeared in order to liven up Yunogo Onsen in the northern part of Okayama Prefecture with local brand strawberries that are in season now.
This “strawberry catcher” was installed by a tourist farm in Mimasaka City, Okayama Prefecture with the cooperation of a local bowling alley, in an attempt to revitalize the hot spring town by attracting customers who have been far away due to the protracted corona disaster.
The prize is a strawberry named “Utsukushi no Kaori,” which weighs about 60 grams, about three times the weight of a typical strawberry, and is sold for about 1,000 yen per strawberry.
At Strawberry Catcher, each grain is put in a package, and you can get it if you manage to catch it by operating a crane for 100 yen per game.
Yuki Kawai, president of Mimasaka Farm, which produces strawberries, said, ``We installed it in the hope that it will encourage people to visit Yunogo Onsen and strawberry picking. was
