The traditional event "Hyakumanben" in Nakadomari-cho, Aomori Prefecture, where people form a circle and chant the nembutsu many times while spinning large prayer beads to pray for good health, was held for the first time in five years.

It is said that "Hyakumanben" has been held in Nakadomari since the mid-Edo period to pray for good health and bountiful harvests. I have continued.



On the 26th, after being canceled due to the new corona, the event for the first time in about five years was held at the community center in the town, and 17 locals participated.

The participants sat around a large rosary with a diameter of about 5 meters, and chanted the Nembutsu by rotating the rosary counterclockwise.



And when the large ball on the rosary came around to him, he held it up in front of his forehead and prayed for good health.



A woman in her 90s said, "I prayed for the health of the participants. I was happy to be able to do Hyakumanben for the first time in a long time."



In addition, a woman in her 70s said, "I'm happy to meet people I can't usually meet. I haven't been able to do it for a while, but I want to do it regularly from now on."
