The fight against drug trafficking is intensifying in the Vaucluse.
This Monday, the prefect said in a press release that "reinforced control operations" were going to take place in Avignon, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.
In addition, a mobile force unit will be deployed "to reinforce the occupation of the public highway, in particular around the deal points", mentions the document.
This unit, in addition to the departmental staff, will carry out systematic checks and fines.

Frequent shootings at deal points
In addition to the fight against drug trafficking, this reinforcement on the ground aims to restore tranquility to residents in their neighborhood.
For several months, Avignon and other towns in the Vaucluse have been the scene of shootings linked to narcobanditry.
Two young men aged 18 and 25 were shot dead on November 30 in the Saint-Jean district of Avignon.
A month earlier, a 16-year-old boy was shot dead on a deal point.
