In April last year, a part-time employee of a bento store in Yodogawa-ku, Osaka, Mr. Vo Thi Le Quinh (then 31) of Vietnamese nationality, was murdered in a room on the second floor of the building where this store is located.



After graduating from university in Vietnam, Mr. Vo, who taught basic Japanese in Vietnam, wanted to study at a graduate school in Japan and become a Japanese language teacher.



In this case, the unemployed defendant Toshiie Yamaguchi (60), who lived in the room on the second floor, summoned Vo with a false story, killed him, and stole about 26,000 yen in cash. I am being asked.



The first trial was held at the Osaka District Court on the 26th.



The prosecution said, "The defendant, who was in financial difficulty, called the victim, whom he had never met, lying and saying, 'The owner told me to bring my valuables and come to the second floor.' I strangled him and killed him, and took money from his wallet to buy alcohol and other items."



On the other hand, the defense argued, ``I tried to borrow money from the victim, but he yelled at me and thought that there was no other way but to faint, and I killed him by mistake.''

What happened

On the morning of April 4 last year, a woman's body was found in a room on the second floor of a building in Mitsuya, Yodogawa-ku, Osaka, where Toshiie Yamaguchi lived at the time.



The person who died was Mr. Vo Thi Le Quynh, a part-time employee of a bento store on the first floor of the same building and a Vietnamese nationality.



The owner of the bento shop became suspicious that he could not contact Mr. Vo, and when he checked the security camera, he was seen leaving the store with Mr. Yamaguchi on the morning of the previous day.



A police officer who received a report from the store owner entered the defendant's room late at night and found the defendant bleeding on the bed and a knife nearby. .



The next morning, the police searched the room again and found Vo dead.



The cause of death was suffocation, and the police began investigating it as a homicide, assuming that someone had strangled him.



Defendant Yamaguchi was arrested and prosecuted for murder and robbery, saying that he strangled and killed Mr. Vo and stole about 26,000 yen in cash.



Furthermore, in the defendant's room, a memory card containing data from a security camera that had been taken out of the bento store was found. He was also charged with trying to steal cash etc.
