In order to create an environment that makes it easy to have and raise children and to take measures against the declining birthrate, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has established a policy to expand the scope of free tuition fees for metropolitan universities from the 6th year of Reiwa, and the household income is set at 9.1 million. We are adjusting in the direction of raising it to less than the yen.

Tokyo's total fertility rate is 1.08, the lowest in Japan. We are creating an environment that makes it easier to have and raise children, such as making childcare fees free.

As part of this, the metropolitan government has established a policy to expand the scope of free tuition fees for Tokyo residents attending metropolitan universities in order to promote efforts to secure educational opportunities regardless of the economic situation of the family.

Tuition at Tokyo Metropolitan University is over 520,000 yen per year, or over 2,080,000 yen over four years. Currently, with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's own support, tuition is free for households with a household income of less than 4,780,000 yen.

Specifically, the metropolitan government is adjusting to raise the guideline for free of charge to less than 9.1 million yen, and wants to implement it from FY2024.
