On the morning of the 25th, there was a problem in which the wheels of the JR Nikko Line, which runs in Tochigi Prefecture, idled and the train could not move, so passengers got off the train and were transported to a nearby station.

JR East is investigating the effect of the snow that accumulated on the tracks.

Around 7:00 am on the 25th, a trouble occurred between Imaichi Station and Nikko Station on a 3-car train from Utsunomiya to Nikko on the JR Nikko Line, where the wheels were spinning and the train could not move.

According to JR East, there were about 15 passengers on the train, but there were no injuries, and they got off the train and were transported to a nearby station by taxi.

The site is about 6 meters higher than National Route 119, which runs parallel to JR Nikko Station about 2 kilometers away.

The JR staff carefully lowered the passengers to the side of the national road where the taxi stopped while securing a foothold.

JR is investigating the situation, assuming that the snow accumulated on the track caused the wheels to spin.

Due to this trouble, the JR Nikko Line has suspended operation on the inbound and outbound lines between Imaichi Station and Nikko Station as of 9:30 am.

There is no prospect of reopening.
