Amid the severe cold nationwide due to the very strong cold air of this winter, Rikubetsu Town in Hokkaido recorded the lowest temperature in Japan, minus 26.9 degrees, on the morning of the 24th.

Amidst the severe cold weather nationwide, the strongest cold air of the winter has entered the skies above Hokkaido, causing severe cold in various places. It was 4.8 degrees below the previous day and became the lowest in the country.



A thermometer was installed at a roadside station in the town, and visitors were surprised to see that the temperature was well below minus 20 degrees.



A man in his 40s who visited the town from Sapporo said, "Compared to Sapporo, the cold is completely different. It's like a stabbing pain."



A man in his 60s who was visiting from Kanagawa Prefecture said, "It's a once-in-a-decade cold wave, so it feels different from the normal cold."
