Several people were injured in a knife attack on a regional train from Kiel to Hamburg on Wednesday.

A man attacked travelers with a knife shortly before 3 p.m. before arriving at Brokstedt station, a spokesman for the Federal Police said on Wednesday the German Press Agency.

According to initial findings, seven people were injured.

Police officers arrested the man shortly afterwards in Brokstedt.

The background is still unclear.

The station was closed for police measures.

As Deutsche Bahn announced on Twitter, there are long-distance train cancellations between Hamburg and Kiel and Neumünster.
