After several years of waiting, the SNCF bridge at Abancourt station (Oise) should finally be secure.

The traffic lights that had been installed following the electrification of the lines broke down in 2018, causing numerous accidents since then, reports

Le Réveil

The bridge had been raised after the electrification of the lines in 1982. This choice drastically reduced the visibility of drivers, preventing them from seeing what was happening on the other side.

This is why eight traffic lights have been installed by the SNCF.

But after the restructuring of the company in 1998, it was the municipality that found itself in charge of maintaining the lights, which at that time were working.

Start of work in July

It was in 2018 that the traffic lights definitely broke down, in particular because of bad weather.

Not having the means to repair them, the municipality had appealed to the State to finance the work, estimated between 250,000 and 300,000 euros.

The subsidies were initially refused, but the mayor finally managed to obtain state aid.

Work should therefore begin on July 7, 2023.
