Tsunehisa Katsumata, 82, former chairman of TEPCO, and Ichiro Takekuro, 76, and Sakae Muto, 72, who were vice presidents of Tokyo Electric Power Company, rescued 44 people, including hospitalized patients from Fukushima Prefecture, from the nuclear accident. He was forcibly prosecuted for professional negligence resulting in death and injury by a decision of the Inquest of Prosecution, for causing death in the process of evacuation.



The first trial acquitted the three, and the Tokyo High Court of the second trial also ruled on the 18th of this month, saying, ``It is impossible to predict the arrival of a huge tsunami, and to avoid an accident, the operation of the nuclear power plant has been suspended. It cannot be said that there was an obligation to do so," and following the first trial, all three were acquitted.

Dissatisfied with this ruling, the designated attorney acting as the public prosecutor filed an appeal to the Supreme Court on the 24th.



Nearly 12 years after the nuclear accident, the stage of the trial will move to the Supreme Court.
