The American designer Jason Petrie has long been known in the sneaker scene.

As an intern at Converse, he began honing his sneaker design skills while studying at North Carolina State University.

The polarizing Converse All-Star He:01 was one of the first projects Petrie worked on.

He then designed basketball shoes for Fila in Italy for two years – until Nike made him the head designer of the LeBron line, succeeding Ken Link.

With the signature line of basketball star LeBron James, Petrie influenced the direction of the basketball shoe world.

The special thing about his designs: When they come onto the market, they often look futuristic, completely different from all other models.

Petrie is ahead of his time.

And what can the new shoe designed by Petrie do?

The LeBron XX is the first low-cut sneaker in the LeBron James signature collection.

The shoe celebrates the 20-year collaboration between LeBron James and Nike.

The upper material is synthetically coated, which should create stability when worn.

In contrast to the characteristic high-top version and visible Max-Air cushioning, the LeBron XX shows more subtle details.

Key features include a lower profile, Zoom Air in the forefoot and heel, and a carbon fiber midfoot shank.

The forefoot is cushioned by a top-loaded Air Zoom Turbo unit, and the heel is cushioned by a larger Zoom Air unit with a thickness of 13 millimeters.

The shoe is designed to provide a light and low-to-the-ground feel and is designed for a fast playing style.

The LeBron XX has been around since September 29, 2022.

What is so special about basketball shoes?

Basketball shoes have long been worn not only on the court, but also on the street.

So they have just as much fashion meaning.

This is another reason why they are among the most popular shoes of our time, even if you don't have much to do with basketball.

"The excitement wasn't just from the shoe itself, but from everything that happened around it," says Petrie.

“I was impressed by the fusion of sport, fashion and culture.

And I think that's how it is for a lot of people in my generation and the one after."

When and how do I wear them?

Basketball shoes can be worn not only on the sports field, but also as streetwear.

The LeBron looks clumsy and eye-catching due to the thick soles and the bright colors.

Those who prefer it more reserved can combine the shoes with a more inconspicuous outfit of jeans and a shirt.

The shoes also go well with the popular gray sweatpants and an oversized hoodie.

A subtle casual look also draws attention to the eye-catching sneakers.
