A journalist who has been missing in troubled circumstances for several days in Cameroon was found dead on Sunday, his media and his family announced, while the opposition and press defense organizations denounce an "assassination".

Martinez Zogo, 51, was the managing director of private radio station Amplitude FM, based in Yaoundé, and the star host of a daily program, Embouteillage, broadcast from Monday to Friday and widely listened to in the Cameroonian capital.

At least 23 civilians were killed overnight from Sunday to Monday in an attack attributed to the ADF in a village in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

It is in this context of violence that the Independent National Electoral Commission announced the extension of voter registration.

The process was due to end today, but a significant number of Congolese in the west of the country were unable to register in time.

The CENI therefore extended the operation for 25 days.

South Africa, criticized for its "neutral" position refusing to condemn Moscow since the start of the war in Ukraine, took a new step on Monday by calling itself a "friend" of Russia, during a meeting between the leaders of the diplomacy of the two countries in Pretoria.
