Allen, from the UK, is the Dean of the American Basto School Branch of Jiangxi Hewes International Department.

In 2014, he gave up his job in the UK for love, and followed his lover Kong Defen to China to work in education management and human resource management.

During the ten years in China, every Chinese New Year, he and Kong Defen would return to their hometown Majiang County, Guizhou Province.

For the "foreign son-in-law" Allen, he has already figured out the "way" to celebrate the New Year in a loving family in China: be diligent and "grab" things to do.

During the Spring Festival in 2023, Alan took off his suit and put on an apron, and Alan and his fellow villagers slaughtered pigs and made glutinous rice cakes together.

During the break, he would grab a handful of melon seeds, and sit around the firewood with fellow villagers, eating melon seeds and doing homework.

For Allen, the taste of Chinese New Year is warm and full of family affection. It is a very happy thing for the family to sit around the iron stove and eat a steaming New Year meal.

Allen told reporters that when he came to China in his early twenties, his understanding of Chinese culture was only on the surface. As he stayed in China and grew older, he would explore every story in the 5,000-year history and culture , and in these historical allusions, he found some working methods and attitudes towards life.

In the past ten years in China, Alan's biggest harvest is a happy love and a thriving career.

Talking about the future, Allen said frankly that he is very relieved to be able to develop in China, because there are many opportunities in China, and he can work hard to improve his ability.
