Australian actor Heath Ledger passed away on January 22, 2008 at the age of 28. During his short career, he managed to play in more than 20 film projects. The first success came to Ledger with the release of the drama "10 Things I Hate About You", however, by his own admission, he did not want the role of a teenage idol to be fixed for him. Ledger would later become world famous with The Patriot, followed by such films as Four Feathers, The Brothers Grimm, Brokeback Mountain, I'm Not There, and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. The iconic role in the filmography of the actor was the role of the Joker in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. For his work in this film, Ledger was awarded an Oscar, becoming the second actor in history to receive this award posthumously.
