I went from singing to TV, then to film, stage, and drama, as a screenwriter, director, producer, producer, and broadcaster.

Recently, Hong Kong actor Ma Junwei accepted an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency to share his cross-border life.
In 1993, 22-year-old Steven Ma won the championship in a singing competition with the song "Li Xianglan", thus becoming a signed singer of Warner Records and making his official debut.
But his star journey was not so brilliant and smooth sailing.
The response to the three albums was mediocre, and the 27-year-old thought of quitting the showbiz. However, a phone call to invite him to audition brought a turning point in his life.

I really planned to quit, but at that time the TV station called me and they asked me to audition for a series.
That (serial drama) is "The Deer and Ding Tale".
The role of "Little Xuanzi" transformed Ma Junwei from a singer in the music world to an actor.
It's just very tiring to shoot this scene, because I am (acting) an emperor every day, and I have to sit upright every day.
Because (Chen) Xiaochun's personality is different from mine.
Actually (the character) in my play is similar, I am a calmer person, he is more naughty, so sometimes he can really relax me.
We later became good friends.
I really didn't expect it to be spread until today. Even now, when many people talk about this play, they will say "Little Xuanzi", and when they see it, they will think of "The Deer and Ding Tale".
[Commentary] The broadcast of "The Deer and Ding Tale" made Ma Junwei popular on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, Hong Kong and Macau. Since then, there have been constant film appointments and he has become TVB's queen actor.
The infatuated and gentle Zhou Shixian in "Emperor Flower", the talented Cao Zhi in "Luo Shen", the clever and clever family portrait in "Golden Iceman"... During the golden age of Hong Kong's film and television industry, he created classic costume characters one after another, becoming The common memory of generations.

I think TVB does have a style of theirs, our leading actors are filming almost 24 hours a day.
We could go on location, on set, on location, on set, non-stop.
Today, I sometimes change it on the spot, four or five pages (lines), I will memorize it immediately, and I will read it immediately. After 30 minutes, you will go into the studio to shoot, all of which are recorded on the spot.
An actor is not allowed to enter the studio without reading the script well and memorizing the script.
So I think these have cultivated a group of actors who can endure hardships.
Because it trained me, everything is very simple for me today.
[Commentary] As a singer and actor, he has been in the entertainment industry for more than 20 years. Ma Junwei's original intention has not changed. The resignation of dropping out of school in the early years has not diminished his desire for knowledge.
In 2018, a Weibo post about studying at Peking University made him out of the circle again. At the age of 47, he picked up his schoolbag again and became a student studying for an EMBA. Ma Junwei said that the two years of studying at Peking University were the happiest time in his life.

I have one thing I'm really proud of.
First, I have never asked for leave, I have never been late or left early.
Then, every time I do my homework, I am either the second or the first to hand it in.
Then during the two years I was still at Peking University, I also held a breakfast meeting.
I learned the same things as other master students, and I also lived in the school. Those two years were very good memories.
[Explanation] Reading, learning Chinese medicine, taking the barista certificate test, and founding a youth art education institution, Ma Junwei's cross-border road is rich and colorful.
In November 2022, he became a public servant in Hong Kong. In January 2023, he was appointed by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and became a member of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
Ma Junwei said that a new identity means new responsibilities. The national "14th Five-Year Plan" has positioned Hong Kong as a "center for cultural and art exchanges between China and foreign countries". Promote the construction of film projects in the Greater Bay Area.

Now our mainland film and television is developing super fast, and it is definitely at an international level. The development of film and television in China as a whole has already established a very high position in the entire international market.
I hope that both me and my peers around me can put in more new creations.

My plan is that after our new committee members take office, I plan to immediately promote some film projects in the entire Greater Bay Area.
Including going to different locations to shoot, inviting production staff or actors from different cities to participate in the performance together, to make a film that is not prepared with Hong Kong as a separate unit, whether it is Macau or Guangzhou, anyway The stories that happened in various cities in the entire Greater Bay Area are actually being conceived.
