• Bruno Granja has been carrying out an amusement park project around cinema and video games for several years, at the Domaine de Bayssan, in Béziers.

    Attractions around famous licenses (

    Dune, Rabbids

    …) must be created.

  • But Kléber Mesquida (PS), the president of the Department of Hérault, indicated that he no longer supported the project, considering that it made “no sense”.

  • The amusement park project, whose consultation is complete, is perfectly tied up, and was at the “land transfer” stage, defends the entrepreneur.

Will we be able, one day, to take ourselves for a Rabbid or face Godzilla, in Béziers (Hérault)?

On Tuesday, Kléber Mesquida (PS), the president of the Department of Hérault, jeopardized the tempting amusement park project on cinema and video games, Studios Occitanie Méditerranée, which was to open its doors in 2025, at the Bayssan estate.

The elected official, whose community is in the majority within the Syndicat mixte du domaine de Bayssan, owner of the site, confided that he no longer wanted to support him.

“At the end of these four years, nothing has succeeded, nothing has been presented, asserted the boss of the Department, relates France Bleu Hérault.

We are told "We are going to do something around digital".

We do not know the consistency, it does not meet our expectations, and I doubt that there is a proven feasibility on this aspect.

This project, for me, does not make sense.

“The surprise is total”

Bruno Granja, who carries the project, had nevertheless assured, in recent months, that things were moving.

He had announced that Ubisoft, then Legendary (

Dune, King Kong, Godzilla

and

Pacific Rim

), a juggernaut of Hollywood cinema, had given their consent for the attractions of the future Bayssan estate park to be inspired by their most popular licenses. famous.

So, inevitably, the entrepreneur is a little stunned, after the announcements of Kléber Mesquida.

"I learned about it from the press", is surprised Bruno Granja, who notes however that "the decision-making body" is indeed the Syndicat Mixte du Domaine de Bayssan, and not directly the Department of Hérault.

Even if “the Department is part of it, of course”.

It even has a majority, about two-thirds.

“The surprise is total, because the Department is perfectly informed, assures the entrepreneur.

I handed over what I had to hand over.

I did what I had to do.

I have honored all of my commitments.

Bruno Granja hopes, however, that things will work out with the Department.

"We're going to talk," he says.

It is a popularly supported project.

“The project, whose consultation is complete, is perfectly tied up, and was at the stage” of the land transfer “, assures the entrepreneur.

“It will be a shame, for the department of Hérault”

“What I hope is that this project will come out of the ground, it's a real asset for the south of France.

I believe in it, I will go all the way.

» Bruno Granja is not, yet, looking for other land likely to accommodate this park.

“But if other options are to arise, they will arise.

It will be a shame for the department of Hérault.

For its part, the municipality of Béziers, whose mayor, Robert Ménard (various right), is fully behind this project, says it is dismayed.

"Mr. Mesquida decides, on his own, to bury the ambitious and exciting project of a large park around cinema and video games", deplores the city, which specifies that "it did not cost the taxpayer a penny".

The town hall ensures that the licensing contracts and the financial package have been communicated to the stakeholders.

“This affair smells of bad politics, old politics, it has the smell of resentment, it has the sad appearance of the old world (…) Admittedly, this beautiful project, in particular because of the pandemic, has been delayed. , but it brings great hopes for the economy of our territory and for our youth.
