The conference of presidents of the Senate on Wednesday recorded the creation of a commission of inquiry into the shortage of drugs, at the request of the group CRCE with a communist majority.

Each political group has the right to set up one commission of inquiry or one fact-finding mission per parliamentary year.

The CRCE group uses its "drawing rights" to set up a commission of inquiry into "the shortage of drugs and the choices of the French pharmaceutical industry".

She will have to “identify responsibilities in the face of drug shortages”, which have been “multiplied by thirty in ten years in pharmacies”, according to the text of Senator CRCE Laurence Cohen.

“This shortage now affects antibiotics and in particular amoxicillin, used primarily in children (…).

The shortages now also affect the stocks of medicines in hospital pharmacies, ”she underlines.

The commission of inquiry will notably have to question the question of the relocation of production plants in France.

Three other fact-finding missions

The conference of presidents also took action on three information missions: on the future of the municipality and the mayor (drawing right of the Les Républicains group), on "sustainable water management" (PS) and on "the school buildings put to the test by ecological transition” (RDPI, mostly Renaissance).

For this session, a commission of inquiry has already been created on “the effectiveness of public policies in terms of energy renovation”, at the request of the environmental group.

She will focus in particular on the “Ma Prime Renov” device which “does not seem to be operational at all”, according to the text by Guillaume Gontard.

The president of the environmental group points to "delays in payment, bugs of all kinds, premiums lower than the estimate made before the work".

At the request of the centrist group, an information mission was also set up on “the development of a sector of biofuels, sustainable synthetic fuels and green hydrogen”.

The members of this commission of inquiry and this fact-finding mission were appointed on Tuesday.
