On January 16, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin presided over a regular press conference.

A reporter asked: According to reports, on the 13th, U.S. President Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida held talks in Washington and issued a joint statement, saying that China violated the rules-based international order, leading to rising challenges in the Asia-Pacific region; the two sides are committed to strengthening the U.S. and Japan alliance and defense against Japan, and blamed China on issues such as the East China Sea and Taiwan.

How does China respond to this?

Wang Wenbin said that Japan and the United States conspired to stage a farce that defames China's image, interferes in China's internal affairs, and suppresses China's development. It is both hypocritical and dangerous.

China firmly opposes this and has lodged solemn representations with relevant countries.

Japan once stepped into the wrong path of militarism, launched a war of aggression, committed serious crimes against humanity, and brought serious disasters to the region and the world.

However, instead of seriously introspecting, the Japanese side once again showed a dangerous posture of strengthening its military and expanding its arms.

Japan's defense budget has increased significantly for 11 consecutive years, constantly adjusting its security policy, vigorously seeking military breakthroughs, playing up regional tensions in reverse, making excuses for its military reorganization, and even seeking to introduce NATO into the Asia-Pacific region.

Japan's actions have to be doubted. Japan is leaving the post-war peaceful development track, and the danger of repeating the mistakes of history is constantly accumulating.

We are telling the Japanese side that being a disruptor and spoiler of security and stability in the Asia-Pacific will be widely opposed and strongly countered by countries in the region.

The United States has repeatedly talked about rules and order to other countries, but it is the well-deserved number one destroyer of international rules and order.

From wanton aggression against other countries to indiscriminate unilateral sanctions, from arrears of UN dues to major players to maliciously obstructing the selection of judges for the WTO Appellate Body, from arbitrary "coercive diplomacy" against other countries to collages of closed and exclusive "small circles", From deploying a large number of warships and planes to showing off its power in the Asia-Pacific region to opening the "Pandora's Box" of nuclear proliferation, the United States has never cared about rules or order. The only thing the United States really cares about is the stability of its hegemony.

As long as it is not in the interests of the United States, the United States will ignore, modify or even overturn the existing rules, even if the relevant rules are proposed by the United States itself.

It is worth pointing out that China will unswervingly follow the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and China's peaceful development cannot be stopped by any country or force.

China will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard its sovereignty, security and development interests.

We urge the United States and Japan to abandon the Cold War mentality, get rid of the demons of containing and suppressing China, stop their dangerous acts of militarism and chaos in the world, and return to the right path of peace, friendship, and cooperation in the world.
